Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society and Manchester Inte'Great'
SCPS and Manchester INTE'GREAT' are recruiting VOLUNTEERS for their Short Breaks scheme. The Short Breaks scheme operates weekends away supporting children with disabilities (11 to 19 years old) to do outdoor adventure activities such as climbing, zip wire and sailing in the Lake District. We also offer City Breaks with visits to local places of interest along with social activities. Volunteers work alongside our trained staff to encourage and assist group members to participate in activities and try new things.
Volunteer Induction Training will be offered to cover the basic elements of First Aid, Manual Handling, Epilepsy, Autism, Safeguarding and Disability Equality. Volunteers will be able to start actively volunteering once an induction meeting has taken place and 2 satisfactory references have been received.

Wheelchair skills training, 25 - 27 August, Cedar Mount High School, Gorton
Whizz - kidz are running a wheelchair skills training scheme in Manchester from 25th – 27th August from 11am – 4pm which is free to children and young people. You can learn lots of different skills including; road safety, spatial awareness, dance session, ramps and kerbs. There are warm up games, discussions and other activities including obstacle courses and a treasure hunt. More advanced and older trainees are also available to buddy with the younger trainees.

The National Autistic Society's help! Team North West is running two parent seminars in Wilmslow. On Monday 13 September, there's Managing Anger in young people with Asperger Syndrome and Tuesday 14 September, there's Supporting the siblings of your child with an ASD. 3 day help! Programme in Warrington, November 2010
This programme provides information, advice and support to parents/full time carers whose child aged 5 - 11 has had a recent diagnosis of an autistic spectrum disorder. It includes an overview of ASDs, top tips for communication and interaction, education rights and law, accessing support services and approaching behavioural difficulties. Places are free but allocated on a first come, first served basis for up to 12 families. The programme starts on Monday 1st November with sessions on Tuesday 2nd and Friday 12th November, all 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.

FREE skateboarding all summer long in Gorton Park!
FREE skateboarding coaching classes for young people aged 8 to 16 in Gorton Park this summer. Come along on TUESDAY evenings from 4pm to 8pm for the chance to train with professional skateboarders. Boards and protective gear are provided and sessions are totally free. Places are limited so get there early. Participants need to complete a registration form and any children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent ot guardian. Last session: 21 September.

Manchester Carers Centre is moving! 7 July 2010
Manchester Carers Centre is moving to fantastic new premises at Vulcan Mill, 12 - 18 Pollard Street, Manchester M4 7AN. There's a new telephone number too - Manchester Carers Centre - office 0161 272 7270 - and a new Carers line 0161 272 7274.
To welcome carers to the new centre, there'll be a special coffee morning on Thursday 22 July from 10.30am to 12.30pm

New day and time for Blackley Young People’s Club and Drop In sessions
Both have moved to Monday evenings at a fantastic new venue at Meade Hill School, Chain Road, Blackley, Manchester M9 6GN
The drop in is from 4.30pm – 6pm and is open to all families – just call in . The youth club is 6 – 8pm by places are via a referral from MAP. There are lots of exciting activities and trips planned for both clubs during 2010

The Interconnections Free Information Resource is aimed primarily at people, services and organisations who offer direct support to babies, children and young people (0 - 25 years) who have disabilities and special needs - and their families. The purpose of our Information Service is to provide relevant information to help these people, services and organisations in their efforts to support children and families. Our Free Electronic Bulletin carrying items of interest is mailed to over 10,000 people a month. South Manchester Down Syndrome Support Group
This group meets the second Friday of the Month between 10am and 12pm at Burnage Children's Centre, Broad Hill Road, Burnage. Provides the opportunity to meet other parents and carers to exchange ideas and support and there are sometimes invited speakers on various topics. While parents meet and chat, children will be looked after by a play-worker, and the centre has a lovely sensory room.

Has added sessions to it's popular programme of cycling with accessible adapted bikes for people with a range of disabilities.
- Wednesday- Open Session- 10am to 12noon. Just turn up and ride for 50p
