Parktastic is a new and innovative project delivering inclusive play sessions in selected Manchester parks on Saturday and Sundays. The sessions steer clear of sporting activities, concentrating more on fun and adventure: everything from climbing trees, sliding through mud, tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, making dens and campfires and toasting marshmallows. While all this is going on parents can get hot food and drink and take a well-earned break. The activities are open to children aged from 4 – 16 years.
The club is open to families on a drop-in basis - just come along! For further information on the project please ring Gareth at MAP.
Parktastic! is funded by the big lottery and supported by Manchester Play Team (part of Manchester City Council). The Parktastic project is being delivered by six Manchester-based voluntary groups. Manchester Parent Carer’s Consultative Group (a parents group for parents of disabled children) is one of the providers and will be responsible for providing the inclusive play sessions. The project will move across the city throughout the duration of the project, which will run until 2010.
The sessions so far have been a great success - sessions have already completed 3 month runs in Crumpsall Park and Brookdale Park. For full details see our latest newsletter.
